Cheese Recall! Want Some Listeria With Your Wine?

Cheese products recalled for Listeria,may have been distributed more widely,than first expected. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause listeriosis, a food borne illness. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly
and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness, however, infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and 3903052 Canada Inc.are warning the public not to consume certain cheese and dairy products,  because the products may be contaminated withListeria monocytogenes.The select products from the following cheese brands are included in this recall,Clic ,Deschamps,Fromagerie Marie Kadé,TIFCO.Initially listed as being distributed in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta*. These products may also have been distributed to other provinces.There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of these products. The manufacturer, 3903052 Canada Inc., Boisbriand, Québec, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. TheCFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
