Squares Honouring Breast Cancer Battlers Sought
Bev Jacobs, a long time Run volunteer in Burlington, is creating a memory quilt honouring breast cancer survivors and to remember those who are no longer with us.
Bev hopes to present this quilt to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation at the end of the year, but she needs your help! Please submit squares in honour, or memory, of loved ones touched by breast cancer. Be sure to include a profile of the person you are recognizing. Bev will use the squares to create a 25th Anniversary Commemorative Quilt reflecting the effort of all our volunteer across the Ontario Region. She will also use the profiles to create a special book to accompany it.
The size requirements for the squares are as follows:
6"x6" on light coloured fabric.
This project is very important to Bev. As she says, "Quilt squares may be small, but when they are stitched together with love and friendship, they are very powerful. The square sparks our creativity, gives us a goal, focuses our attention on a positive project and has the power to bring us together."
It is our hope that Bev's quilt will be a silent message of hope and renewal and a symbol of our shared commitment to a future without breast cancer.
If you or a loved one is interested in participating in this very special project, please email Bev at bjacobs2(at) cogeco (dot)ca
Squares and profiles need to be mailed by Friday, March 25th, 2011, to:
