Yes , sounds like terrible grammar, but you can save money and do good with your accommodation dollars through this innovative program. I am a long time fan of home stays. Where you get to meet the people who live in an area and get a local perspective on things.
Home For The Games is a web-based system that matches Olympic Games visitors with Metro Vancouver hosts for short-term home stays. Besides helping visitors find much-needed affordable accommodation, they create opportunities for hosts, who are willing to share at least 50% of their rental income, to share an unforgettable Olympic experience with guests from around the world while earning modest income.
Home For The Games assures at least 50% of rental fees will go directly to registered charities helping Metro Vancouver’s most vulnerable citizens. Hosts will receive a tax receipt for the portion of the rent that goes to charity.
Home For The Games has attracted institutional partners, a media sponsor and over $150,000 in donations and in-kind support. We are still accepting donors, sponsors, partners and volunteers who share this vision. Click on Get Involved to learn about how you can participate in Home For The Games.
Home For The Games is a non-profit society registered in British Columbia.
When I checked the listings, prices per night ranged from $100 for a room in an apartment to $750 for a luxury furnished condo. Depending on the number of people in your party, these rates are much lower than you can expect to pay at a hotel.
